Project Description

The music therapy program at Nemours started in September 2016 and was developed from seed money from the "Friends of Kent Lindsay", naming the program the Kent Lindsay Music Therapy Program.

The mission of the program is to serve pediatric oncology/hematology patients and their families by providing music therapy to foster emotional expression, improve mood and provide relief from anxiety or stress. Since it's inception, the program has served 118 different patients at Nemours through 226 musical sessions with the music therapist Steven Amburn. The program truly transforms a quiet and scary waiting room into a happy, healthy (and noisy!) room where kids can be kids.

The program is currently funded until October 2017. We are raising money through the GiveandGo100 program to fund the music program for the last 2 months (November and December) of 2017. It costs $25/hour to fund our music therapist who is currently coming to Nemours twice a week for 6 hours. We would like to eventually make him a full-time therapist at our clinic. Help us make this possible!
