40% is such an amazing and functional outlet for people who want to give back but just do not know where it is needed. It is so simple to find an organization that you believe in. I feel very fortunate to have a website like this one where I can rest assured that my donation is going where it is needed and where I intended. Look. Learn. Do. It is really is as simple as that.

Project Description

Family rejection leads to the high number of LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness across our country. JASMYN provides intensive, wrap-around case management support to help young people find safe, stable housing and the services they need to move forward. The Kicked Out Fund helps by paying for apartment / utility security deposits, respite nights in long-term stay hotels when shelters arenít available, and ongoing help for youth to keep them in safe, stable housing.

Nationally, 40% of homeless young people identify as LGBT. In Jacksonville, in a 2015 street outreach survey with other agencies serving homeless youth, that percentage is actually 60%!

JASMYNís case management model for youth experiencing homelessness includes crisis intervention, safety planning, connection and linkage to available housing resources in the community, and ongoing safety-net support (food and hygiene pantry, bedding/kitchen/bathroom furnishings, linkage to mental health services, job search / education support, and more).
